BFR 500 Bisley
A truly great value for this level of power. Revolver is well fit and locks up solid. Much better than any Ruger I have seen lately. A set of Chig's custom buckeye burl grips helped the looks of the unconventional grip frames. A grip frames I had made by Ronnie Wells perfectly follows the shape of the bfr bisley grip portion but rotates it brings the top of the backstrap up to cover the upper frame screws like the original. Eliminated the odd looks. The trigger guard is rather sharp edged as are all BFR ones are. A couple of minutes with 600 grit Emory cloth will allow you to round the edge off the factory guard. Saves bloody knuckles from the rap of these heavy recoiling beast. I don't know why the factory doesn't do this, but all six I have came with the sharp trigger guard. The fit on these guns are tight. Timing and accuracy is outstanding. Compared to my Freedom Arms guns, both are equally accurate, yet the BFR cost a quarter of the FA's price. Plus the trigger is excellent, breaking crisply at 3 pounds as delivered. FA charged extra on an already high base price for a trigger job that barely equals any BFR I have handled. The BFR finish is another matter though. It's rough compared to most revolvers at this price point. It shows machine marks and scratches, especially on the cylinder faces. It should be improved. All in all this series of revolver is an excellent choice, especially considering the relatively low base price compared to the competition. I have trusted my life to them on dangerous game hunts as have many others. It's what these revolvers are made to do. If they would improve the finish a little and round the edge of the trigger guard it would be a solid 5 star every time.
